New School Year

September 10, 2010

And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.  You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.  ~Deuteronomy 6:6-9 ESV

First day of school – Fall 2010

Everyone’s new crate for their books and supplies. You would have thought it was Christmas. 🙂

Daddy hung out with us a little bit for breakfast and our morning devotion and Bible time.

Every year, we fill out “About Me” sheets and then compare them to the previous years.  It’s so fun to see how their favorite things change and how much they grow each year!  This year we started 4th, 3rd and 1st grade!  Wow, how the time flies…

Sean was able to write his own answers this year and upon inspection of his self-portrait…he’s morphed into an alien cyclops.  Sweet.

Christopher took his self-portrait very seriously.

Erin agonized over what color of pink Erin needed to use for her hair.

Kelsie wanted her picture taken too!

We finished up with Singapore Math just before lunch.

Sean moved into level 1, Erin is finishing up her previous book and Christopher started his next level, too.

Kelsie loved her new Color Wonder markers and enjoyed sitting at the table with the other kids.

Michaela spent most of the day going back and forth between playing with the kids and my lap.  It was a great first day!

What a fun first day activity! I need to write that one down for next year – a great tradition to start!

Stopping by to say “Hi” from the Hip Homeschool Hop!
I just wanted to introduce myself as the newest member of the HHM team – I’m looking forward to getting to know you!
