As a result of Christopher’s recent birthday presents, we took a break from our normal history routine today and did some reading on cowboys and indians.  That somehow led to a discussion on pirates (again…because most conversations lead to pirates around here).  We looked up several different things and talked for a while about a pirate’s code of conduct.  This was all VERY informal, mostly just goofing off playing…and it was all before 2 o’clock this afternoon.

The kids spent some time outside playing cowboys after their quiet time and I had forgotten that we even had the pirate talk.

Then, as I’m getting dinner ready, Kelsie started to have a tantrum over one of the bigger kids taking something away from her.

“Kelsie, can you come here for a minute?”

{sobbing as she walks toward me}  “Parley?”

After several seconds, I actually process what she said and busted out laughing so hard I couldn’t even do the ‘don’t whine’ speech.

Gotta love homeschooling…savvy??
