Passion week update

March 31, 2007

Wow!  What an amazing week!  It’s been so interesting to watch how things unfold and see the differences between renting out the high school as our location and having the church as our venue.

Tonight was our second performance.  Earlier in the week, one of the temple guards fell off of the stage into the orchestra pit.  He’s doing okay and came to watch the show last night.  Tonight, there was a bit of a malfunction with the equipment at the cross and as we’re watching Jesus hang there and be crucified…he fell!  Not an all out fall, but the pin that holds the strap to the cross that he holds on to fell out and one side of his body fell.  He was hanging there by one hand holding his entire weight!      I was totally awestruck as he stayed in character, they lowered the cross and put him back on it and raised it again so it could resume.  Cameron said it looked MUCH worse than it was and that he felt no pain at all.  Yikes.  This was after the padding came off of the guards batons during the beating scene and he was getting pummeled with tiny pvc pipe.      Talk about taking one for the team!  After the show though when I was checking on his back, he was fine.  I told his wife to ice him down good tonight and we’d have the props fixed before tomorrow.  Still…YIKES!

The response to the new venue has been overwhelming!!  Last night we had 960 people in the audience.  We’ve never had that many on opening night, and since WVU was in the championship game last night…I was rather impressed!  Tonight though, it was packed!!  PRAISE THE LORD!

My oldest really wanted to watch tonight but with all the people still looking for seats even after the show started, we went ahead and stepped out to let them have our seats and I told him he could watch on Sunday.  He was a little bummed, but took it in stride.  What great kids I’ve had this week.  They’ve held up to the late nights and crazy hours better than I have I think!!

So, two more nights to go.  I’m just praying that those coming will be open to hearing the truth and accept Jesus into their lives.  I love the front page of the program, it just says it all.

The Passion is performed for one heartfelt reason: "that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ (Savior), the son of God, and that by believing, you may have life in His name."  –John 20:31

Thank you for your prayers!  They have been felt and it truly is a blessing!
